The fruit sweets boom has been going on for the past few years in Japan. The fruit brand KAJITSU-BIYORI is one of the fruit sweets brands that have been attracting attention by opening shops mainly in commercial facilities. It offers a wide range of fruit cakes, fruit sandwiches and parfaits, all made from fruit grown with care and love by fruit growers.
We interviewed Mr. Morinaga, President of Sir's Co., Ltd., the operator of KAJITSU-BIYORI.

Leveraging support and franchisee experiences

  • We are currently operating eight directly managed shops, mainly in well-located commercial facilities. Opening more directly managed and franchised shops in the near future will be planned in Japan and other countries. Since our establishment in 1997, we have developed good relationships with many companies in the sales agency and franchise business. Now we are in a position to offer a comprehensive sale, market development and promotion service. In recent years, we have been able to offer clients the opportunity including business operations by us for them. Such know-how has led to the creation of KAJITSU-BIYORI. We do everything from planning to product development, and also have a lot of experience as a franchisee with good brands.

The birth of KAJITSU-BIYORI

  • We started with apparel business, and in 2016 we started our food sales business. KAJITSU-BIYORI is our new own brand, which was launched in 2020. The company that runs the fruit parlor supervised the startup menu and we started the operation.
    Customers are keen to see how the menu changes from season to season, and menus featuring premium fruits such as white strawberries and shine-muscat are popular. We are very proud of the fact that our customers promote us on social media. Insights that we get from our customers are very useful. We offer a wide range of luchapots (cakes), fruit sandwiches and parfaits, all made with fruit grown with care and love by our fruit growers.

Flexible approach

  • We have offers from overseas for take-out only shops and also from overseas customers who have experienced famous Japanese Fruit sweets brands. Our immediate task is to uncover demand and we are getting hints from our customers. We are very particular about our fruit. We don’t just sandwich fruit between cream and cake batter, we have the know-how to use the natural flavors and increase the sugar content of the fruit. The design of our shops is directed to be stylish and unique to KAJITSU-BIYORI, but we are relatively flexible in adjusting the design as the requirements of each shop.

Looking to the future

  • We aim to open our own shops overseas, but we will also need to continuously change and update our café-restaurant, take-away and retail shops in order to always to create a shop that provide our customers with happiness feeling and exciting environment. In order to further accelerate our overseas development, we are planning to open our own factory and direct sales shop. Over the next few years, we will work hard to make KAJITSU-BIYORI known all over Japan and the world by putting our love into each and every shop.
